SERVICES AND OUR DISTINCTION

Our distinction is built on four cornerstones.

General Dentistry

General Dentistry

Our general dental practice focuses on managing tooth breakdown from dental decay, attrition, and erosion with preventative strategies and dental restorations.

Our most distinctive service is to identify all root causes, and provide a strategy to address and deliver outstanding, conservative restorations using cast gold and gold foil.  Our training is built on many years of involvement with the RV Tucker cast gold and gold foil study club.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics

Our distinction is that supporting airway and breathing is a primary goal of our orthodontic care.

Implant Dentistry

Implant Dentistry

Implant dentistry has been a part of the Avis practice since the 1970’s. Dr. Avis has both surgically placed implants and restored them for his entire career.

His surgical approach is driven with the end in mind: implant supported crowns(teeth) that are aesthetic, functional, healthy, and hygienic.

Endodontics

Endodontics

Endodontics- root canal therapy and apical surgery using technology to assist. This includes 3-d cone beam x-rays, microscopes, and rotary instrumentation.

Oral surgery

Oral surgery

Oral surgery - extractions, grafting bone regenerative procedures to support maintenance of facial structure and tooth replacement.

Periodontics

Periodontics

We practice peridontics with preventative care, salivary diagnostics, treatment of periodontal disease with mechanical and chemotherapeutic interventions.

Consideration of relationship to overall health, cardio-vascular health, and interplay with both endodontic, and implant dentistry considerations.

Preventative Care

Preventative Care

We are all about understanding the multifactorial root causes of dental disease. We see the mouth and associated structures as indicators to overall health and well- being.

Prevention is a part of our approach to each and every service. It also includes an amazing dental hygiene department and professional consideration for the impact of lifestyle habits, nutrition, sleep, exercise and stress on our patients' health. It includes but goes well beyond telling you to brush twice a day!

Sleep and TMD

Sleep and TMD

Our education in sleep, TMJ dysfunction, and training in orthodontically re-opening extraction spaces, forward growth , non-extraction, airway minded orthodontic concepts and methods, orthotropics, and reconstructive prosthetic dentistry, and dental appliances gives us a distinctive ability to manage sleep disorders and TMJ disorders.

In addition, this work is supported by significant work with collaborative partners in: myofunctional therapy, naturopathic medicine, speech and occupational therapy, ENT and sleep medicine, and physical therapy, and osteopathic medicine.

Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional Therapy

Myofuntional therapy is training to teach our patients proper oral posture: lips together (nasal breathing), teeth lightly touching, and tongue placed to the “roof” of the mouth.

Through training and exercises patients can impact chronic and acute health challenges such as sleep disorders, non-physiologic growth, TMJ disorders, and dental bite issues.

Bale/Doneen Collaborative Partner

Bale/Doneen Collaborative Partner

Bale/Doneen Collaborative Partner for the prevention of Heart Attack, Stroke, and Diabetes

We proudly share a multi-year collaboration with Dr. Gina Pritchard, DNP, and expert with the Bale/Doneen Method for the prevention of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.

As inflammation causes cardio-vascular disease, our role is to rule out gum disease, root canal issues, and sleep disorders as possible root causes, and if present to help manage.
